The 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 6 July 2026 at Adarsh Siksha Niketan School, Pindrajora, Bokaro. The event was organized by Jharkhand Foundation Kendra (JFK), Pindrajora, Bokaro, with the support of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Bokaro, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The programme aimed to inspire students by highlighting the life, vision, and invaluable contributions of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee towards nation-building. The celebration commenced with a plantation drive, symbolizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development. Students and guests then participated in an informative session on the life and legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, where his dedication to national unity, education, and public service was discussed in detail. A quiz competition was organized to enhance students’ understanding of his life and achievements, followed by an awareness rally in which students carried messages promoting patriotism, social responsibility, and public awareness.

The programme was graced by several distinguished guests. The Principal of Adarsh Siksha Niketan School, Shri Mahatdev Mahato, warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants. The Chief Guest, Shri Gourav Kumar, District Youth Officer, Bokaro, delivered the keynote address, motivating students by sharing the inspiring journey and remarkable contributions of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee to the nation. Around 70 students actively participated in the celebration, making the event vibrant and meaningful. In the quiz competition, Subhankar Goswami secured the first prize, Apurna Kumari won the second prize, and Navnit Kumar received the third prize. The winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates for their outstanding performance.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jaydev Kumar Mahato, Environmentalist and Executive Director of Jharkhand Foundation Kendra. He expressed his gratitude to the school administration, the chief guest, MY Bharat, volunteers, teachers, and students for their wholehearted support in making the celebration successful. In a significant step towards promoting preventive healthcare and safeguarding the future of young girls, the Rotary Club of Bokaro successfully organized a Free Cervical Cancer Vaccination Camp at Olgara Village in Chas Block, Bokaro. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about cervical cancer prevention and ensure that rural girl children have access to life-saving vaccination services. During the camp, 30 rural girl children received the cervical cancer vaccine free of cost. The vaccination was administered by the dedicated medical team of Muskan Hospital, Chas, Bokaro, under the expert supervision of Dr. S. C. Munshi, one of the leading pediatricians in Chas, Bokaro. The medical team ensured that the vaccination process was carried out safely while also educating parents and guardians about the importance of preventing cervical cancer through timely immunization. The campaign received valuable support from Rotarian Mr. Ashok Taneja, whose commitment to community health played an important role in making the programme successful. His encouragement and support reflected Rotary’s continued dedication to improving healthcare access for underserved communities.

Volunteers from Jharkhand Foundation Kendra, Dr. Jaydev Kumar Mahato and Mr. Angad Kumar, actively participated in organizing the camp, coordinating with villagers, and assisting the medical team throughout the programme. Their sincere efforts helped ensure smooth execution and maximum community participation. The vaccination camp was warmly welcomed by the local community, highlighting the growing awareness of women’s health and the importance of preventive healthcare in rural areas. Such initiatives not only protect young girls from cervical cancer but also contribute to building healthier and more informed communities.

When dreams do not find direction, they quietly fade into the background of daily struggles. Recognizing this gap, the Jharkhand Foundation Kendra organized a meaningful Career Counselling and Scholarship Guidance Programme in Jamadoba, Dhanbad, an initiative aimed at turning uncertainty into clarity for young minds. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 40 students, reflecting a strong desire among rural youth to shape a better future. What made the event even more impactful was the presence of working women from the community, who actively engaged in the session, showing that the hunger for learning and growth transcends age and occupation. This initiative was made possible with the dedicated support of local volunteers, Trisha Mahato and Bobby Mahato, whose grassroots connection helped bring the community together. Their efforts ensured that the program reached those who needed it the most. A key highlight of the event was the inspiring session delivered by Dr Jaydev Kumar Mahato. With a deep understanding of rural challenges, he motivated students to recognize their potential and guided them toward making informed career choices. His talk emphasized that success is not limited by geography but shaped by awareness and determination.

As the Executive Director of Jharkhand Foundation Kendra, it was an honor to be invited as the keynote speaker to deliver lectures during the ongoing Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) on “Nature Conservator cum Ecotourism Guide” at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. I delivered an intensive four-day lecture series from 16/01/2026 to 20/01/2026, focusing on nature conservation, community-based ecotourism, and sustainable livelihood development in Jharkhand and across India. Throughout the sessions, Dr. Jaydev Kumar Mahato shared practical field experiences, policy insights, and inspiring case studies that effectively linked environmental protection with skill development and grassroots empowerment. The lectures encouraged trainees to view ecotourism not merely as a career option, but as a meaningful commitment to conserving natural and cultural heritage. Overall, the lecture series added significant value to the GSDP, reinforcing its mission to nurture skilled, responsible, and future-ready green professionals.

The Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, hosted a 4-day (28/11/2025 to 1/12/2025) Capacity Building Program on Rainwater Harvesting and Wastewater Treatment, aimed at empowering rural communities with sustainable water management solutions. The program was supported by Jharkhand Foundation Kendra under the leadership of its Executive Director, Dr. Jaydev Kumar Mahato, and facilitated by the Head of the Department, Environmental Science & Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. While addressing the participants, the HOD appreciated Dr. Jaydev Kumar Mahato’s consistent efforts toward community development and environmental sustainability, stating that his support reflects a strong commitment to translating scientific knowledge into real-world solutions for rural areas. The HOD further emphasized that collaborations with organizations like Jharkhand Foundation Kendra are essential for bridging the gap between academic research and grassroots implementation.

The Career Guidance, Counseling, and Motivation Talk organized by Jharkhand Siksha Pariyojana, Bokaro, PM Sri SS +2 School, Kasmar, is a great step toward empowering students with the right knowledge and direction for their future. Jharkhand Foundation Kendra (JFK) is already running such a program in various government schools of Jharkhand named “Siksha Sabka Adhikar”. This time, it was privileged for JFK to collaborate with the Department of Education, Bokaro (Government of Jharkhand) to join hands for this great initiative. This Program aimed to provide (i) Information on different career paths (Engineering, Medical, Civil Services, Banking, etc.), (ii) Vocational and skill-based career options (iii) Higher education opportunities and scholarships, (iv) One-on-one and group counseling for students (v) Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and interests (vi) Guidance on overcoming academic and personal challenges (vii) Importance of perseverance, discipline, and goal setting and (viii)  How to stay focused despite challenges.
